Finance Director

Job Description:

The position carries the responsibility of overseeing the Finance and the Accounting of the Americas Region (11 Subsidiaries). 

Essential Functions:

• Monitor and assist the monthly, quarterly and annual closing process according to the timetables published by Corporate 

• Ensure complete, timely, consistent and accurate accounting and reporting of financial activity from the subsidiaries in Cognos Controller 

• Consult, advice and support the controllers on all accounting and internal control matters in conjunction with Company Policy 

• Responsible for training finance contacts to comply with monthly, quarterly and annual deliverables in accordance with corporate expectations 

• Analyze month end, quarter end and yearend financial statements and provide commentary and analysis on results, trends and forecasts 

• Review quarterly submissions from subsidiaries including Bad Debt, Top 10 Customers, Top 10 Vendors, Co-Data Report, local accounting books (including but not limited to Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, P&L, A/P, A/R, Depreciation and Bad Debt) 

• Analyze bad debt provisions on a quarterly basis and confirm that they are in line with Company Policy and accurately reflect the A/R risk 

• Monitor Cash Flow 

• Assist in preparation of annual budget and supporting schedules as required; review and revise first submission under the direction of the EVP 

• Support the annual audit in accordance with Company Policy including but not limited to review of audit report, management report and accounts pack and necessary follow-up for internal control weaknesses, and remedies (in line with Company Policy) under the direction of Atlanta HQ 

• Support Corporate Finance & Accounting Initiatives 

• Ensure compliance with corporate, statutory and tax regulations 

• Ensure that all local fiscal regulations and/or reporting requirements are met 

• Travel at the direction of the EVP or CFO

• Accurate, timely and complete reporting of financial statements 

• Responsible for Audit and Budget, Tax filings under the guidance of Client

• Other duties/responsibilities as may be assigned


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports

  • Recommend hiring, termination and promotions

  • Identify and resolve personnel issues

  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level



  • Strong Excel Skills needed

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite

  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master a plus

  • Experience in accounting/finance for logistics/freight forwarding

  • Knowledge of Cognos Consolidation software is a plus

  • Edi/Cargowise knowledge is a plus

  • Spanish language preferred
